1. Why did you write the book?
I want to inform Americans about the severity of the problems facing all of us because our government refuses to get serious about defending our borders. Most people think that the only border-related issue we have is illegal immigration; I want to make people aware that there are other threats to our national security that our open border causes or exacerbates, including drug and human trafficking and the transmission of deadly diseases. I also provide a plan of action based on sound military war planning principles that, if implemented, would stop the threats that are coming at us from countries to our south.
2. What is the book about?
It’s about the issues that face our nation due to our government’s lack of substantive action when it comes to defending our borders—particularly our border with Mexico—from hostile enemies and invasion. There are five major threats coming into America because we have an open border with Mexico and I address each of them in-depth. I address constitutional and other legal precepts to educate the reader about what the laws actually are. And I develop a solution for the defense of our border with Mexico using the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP). This is the same methodology that I used to prepare war plans while I was a combat planner in the U.S. Army.
3. Is this book timely and why?
Our border with Mexico is at the center of almost every political debate, and every day there are stories about the drug wars and illegal immigration in the media. It’s a hot-button issue and a huge problem that will persist throughout 2009 in the Congress.
4. Who will benefit the most from your book?
Every American who wants to know what is really happening to this country because of our open borders should be interested in this book. Some of what I address is known by some people, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people are totally ignorant on what the realities are in America because the federal government and some state governments refuse to do anything substantive to secure our border with Mexico.
5. How is the book relevant to our lives today?
Americans are losing jobs and access to healthcare and being taxed at high rates because of all the drains that open borders cause. Hospitals are closing; people lose their jobs because immigrants (legal and illegal) will work for less money; and wages are depressed because legitimate businesses are having difficulty competing with employers who are using slaves and/or illegal labor. English-speaking teachers are losing their jobs because they are not bilingual in Spanish. Infectious diseases are on the rise again in the U.S.—diseases that were once all but eradicated are on the rise at alarming rates.
6. What are the top 3 things readers will learn or top 3 lessons readers will get from the book? 1) Drug trafficking, sex-trafficking, entry by terrorists, invasion by millions of illegal immigrants and spread of infectious diseases are all reasons for America to defend herself, and I offer a detailed solution.
2) If our borders remain open, our country will continue to decline culturally and economically; closing our borders, per my proposed solution, will save jobs, our culture and lives.
3) Our Constitution, as originally written and intended, does not preclude such state and/or local options as the denial of welfare, health care, education and citizenship to illegal immigrants.
